Singapore Travel Guide: Top Sights & Tips

Changi Wonders, Sentosa Shores & Urban Thrills

Traveling is about the stories and unforgettable experiences you collect along the way. Recently, my husband and I decided to visit neighboring Singapore. Even on a repeat visit, the Lion City never fails to impress. Consequently, we created this complete Singapore travel guide to help you plan your own budget-friendly adventure!

Planning Your Journey

Budget Flights and Transport

Flying to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur is remarkably cheap when you book early. For example, we flew via AirAsia in June for only RM 75 per person. You can easily compare rates on the official AirAsia flight portal.

However, return flights from Singapore to Malaysia are often much more expensive. Therefore, we booked a comfortable return bus ride through RedBus online for RM 120 per person.

Immigration & Airport Tips

Before entering Singapore, you must submit the free SG Arrival Card online. Doing this early saves you time at immigration counters.

Furthermore, keep your hand luggage under 7 kg to avoid unexpected charges at KLIA2.

Top Attractions in Singapore

Landing at Changi Airport

Our flight lasted just 1 hour and landed at Changi Airport Terminal 4. Changi is more than an airport; it is an incredible experience!

For instance, head over to Jewel Changi Airport to view the iconic Rain Vortex waterfall. It begins flowing at 10 AM on weekends and 11 AM on weekdays. You can easily take free airport shuttle buses between terminals.

Staying at Sentosa Island

During our trip, we stayed directly inside Sentosa Island at Siloso Beach Resort. Although accommodations cost slightly more, the scenic beach views made it worthwhile.

To reach Sentosa, take the Sentosa Express from VivoCity Mall. Once on the island, free beach shuttles help you navigate easily.

“Singapore isn’t just a stopover—it’s a destination that shows how cultures can beautifully live side by side.”

Universal Studios Singapore

Spending a full day at Universal Studios Singapore is essential for theme park fans. We booked our entry passes via Klook the night before.

In addition, download the official Universal Studios app to track live wait times. Do not miss top attractions like Transformers, Jurassic Park, and Shrek 4D!

City Views and Cultural Spots

Beyond Sentosa, explore mainland landmarks on foot or via the MRT:

  • Singapore River & Fort Canning: Walk through historic colonial spots and lush green hills.

  • Chinatown & Haji Lane: Visit vibrant street markets, mural photospots, and local food stalls.

  • Merlion Park & Gardens by the Bay: End your evening watching glowing Supertree light shows near Marina Bay.
