As expats living in Kuala Lumpur, my husband and I have visited the iconic Petronas Twin Towers several times, both during the day and at night. Each visit has left us in awe of their breathtaking beauty. Here’s a detailed guide to making the most of your visit to this magnificent landmark.
Kuala Lumpur’s Iconic Skyline Experience
Day and Night Splendor
The Twin Towers are truly a sight to behold at any time of day. During the day, the gleaming steel and glass facade reflects the sunlight, creating a stunning visual against the city skyline. At night, the towers are illuminated, casting a magical glow that can be seen from miles away. The towers are also a fantastic backdrop for photos, offering countless opportunities for stunning shots.

Shopping at Suria KLCC
Beneath the towers lies the Suria KLCC mall, home to a plethora of branded shops. From high-end fashion to electronics, the mall offers a diverse shopping experience. It’s a great place to indulge in some retail therapy or simply window-shop while enjoying the air-conditioned comfort.
“I love the scents of winter! For me, it’s all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread and spruce.”
Visiting the Twin Towers
Curious to explore the inside of the Twin Towers, we checked ticket prices on Klook and Trip.com, finding them to be around RM 120 or more. However, one day while visiting the mall, we decided to check the ticket prices at the towers’ ticketing office and were pleasantly surprised to find them for less than RM 100 for expats. If you’re lucky, you might be able to get tickets for the same day. If not, you can book in advance for a different day.
Best Time to Visit
For the best experience, we recommend booking the 7 pm slot. This timing allows you to witness the breathtaking city views during both daylight and nightfall. The transition from day to night offers a unique and unforgettable perspective of Kuala Lumpur.
Getting There
Reaching the Twin Towers is convenient. You can take a bus that stops near the towers or opt for the train. Ensure you take the correct exit towards the Twin Towers to avoid any confusion.
The Tour Experience
The tour begins with a visit to the Skybridge on the 41st floor, where the towers are connected. You’ll have about 20 minutes here to take in the views and snap some incredible photos of the city below.
Next, you’ll be guided to the 86th floor. While the towers have 88 floors, the highest accessible floor for visitors is the 86th. The view from here is nothing short of spectacular. By the time you reach this level, it will likely be night, allowing you to witness the city’s twinkling lights and vibrant nightlife from above.
Souvenirs and Memories
Don’t forget to send a postcard from the Twin Towers. Postcards cost around RM 1-2, and stamps are less than RM 1. On your way out, you can also get a coin printed as a souvenir for RM 5-10. Since my husband and I love collecting souvenirs from our travels, we also bought a Twin Towers medallion coin, which was RM 20-30.
Practical Tips
- Advance Booking: Consider booking your tickets in advance to ensure availability, especially during peak times.
- Timing: Aim for the 7 pm slot to enjoy both day and night views.
- Souvenirs: Budget a little extra for postcards, stamps, and other souvenirs to commemorate your visit.
Visiting the Petronas Twin Towers is a must-do when in Kuala Lumpur. Each visit offers new experiences and memories, making it a destination we never tire of. Whether you’re exploring the towers for the first time or the tenth, their grandeur and the views they offer will always leave you spellbound.
